EASTER EGG HUNT

As is tradition we are getting ready for the annual Lake Placid Community Easter Egg Hunt. For about 33 years the Lake Placid Journal and the Delaney family has been the sponsor of the community egg hunt. Last year with the sale of the Journal we were then helped by the Lake Placid Merchants Association. This year finds the Lake Placid Merchants Association as the Sponsors of the event. Mom and I are the Chairs of the event and we are getting all ready. Dad has made sure that the Delaney family is still involved with the egg hunt with Delaney Partners being one of the Big Bunny donors. We are grateful to all of the donors but I have to plug my family. Dad and I were busy the last 2 days getting last minute donations and buying some of the last minute things. Mom and Bob were a big help today in getting some of those last minute items into the plastic eggs. More of that to come in the next few days as thing trickle in, but Morgan and I can get those done.

If you are in town on Saturday morning, please be sure to come to the Lake June Ballfield and have your child hunt eggs. The event starts at 9 sharp. I know that most of the Delaney's are not as sticky on the sharp part but I am. I think the late gene skipped me in the womb and Mom's genes took over as being more on time. Love you Grandma but I am glad that skipped me!

Spring Break

Well I keep reading on all of my friends blogs about what they are doing on Spring Break so I thought I would tell you what we (I) am doing.

On Friday Morgan went to Don's mom and Dad's house after school (she goes every other Friday). Well she called me when I was getting ready to come home from work and told me she wanted to spend the night. Her words were that because Don and I both had a cold we were "infected" and she didn't want it. Well we let her stay, probably a good thing as Don came home from work and ended up in the ER for some antibiotics. He is fine now by the way.

Saturday I get a call at work telling me that Morgan and Linda (my mother-in-law) are in Sebring at her mother's house getting Brad (brother-in-law) to work on her car. Well I get there to get Mo and there are 4 girls begging for her to stay the night. Grandma Lane then starts asking if she can stay the night. She want Mo to go to church on Sunday so she can sing for them as they have no choir.

Sunday I call Mo to see how things are and to find out what time to come get her. She says grandma said I could stay all week how about that. I remind her that we have some plans later in the week and she said she would come home later in the week. She said she would call when she was ready to come home.

Monday I call to check on her and she tells me that she is busy and cant talk and HANGS UP ON ME. I spend the afternoon and evening stamping and such. My house and dogs and I are all covered in glitter even still. You will understand when you get your Easter cards and you are all covered in glitter. But how I love glitter!

Tuesday (today) I call her and see how she is and if she is ready to come home. I ask for her and wait like forever for her to come to the phone and when she does she say "What do you need mom?" I tell her that I am checking on her and what is she doing and is she ready to come home. She said well we are playing basketball and you interrupted. We took a time out so I could talk to you. I asked if she was ready to come home to which she replied "I didn't call you did I".

To think she is only 11. Grandpa Bob said she is getting to big for her britches. I guess she better call tomorrow because she IS coming home tomorrow to get ready for the plans we have.

Hope you all have a good spring break.

Molly's Treats

Today was the much anticipated Grand Opening of a new store in town. Molly's Treats is a cupcake store in Lake Placid. It is located on South Main Ave across the street (sorta) from the Journal and we have been watching them get ready to open. Well Morgan and I went there today and got the dessert for after dinner then we went to Beef's to meet Mom and Bob for dinner. The cupcakes were really good. Bob had Key Lime Pie, Morgan had Orange Slice, Mom had Chocolate with Buttercream frosting, and I had plain Yellow cake with Buttercream frosting. It was real nice that everyone had something different and everyone enjoyed them. We will go back I am sure. I wish any new business in town the best and we normally try to support a local business. Plus the family that owns the store sits in front of us at church, so we must support them.

New Presents

Today I got some presents. One I bought myself and the other my honey got me. The first one is a silver 4-leaf clover ring. It is sterling silver with a green Swavorski crystal in the center. Very St. Patty's Day, so this was the one that I bought myself. I got it from the Etsy website. They have some cool things over there. The second and third that I got today was what Don bought for me. I have been wanting to get the OTT lights for my craft room. They are really expensive and Michael's has them. They seem to always be like $5.00 or so off and then you can't use the coupon. Well this week they are not on sale, so I could use the coupon. I actually got 2 of them because when we were getting in the check-out line, Don found one in the clearance bin that the box was damaged on. This was a different one than the one that I was planning on getting. We were right there by the cashier and she said we could use the coupon on the clearance one if we wanted. Well I actually had 4 coupons since I got a bunch from the papers at work, so Don got both of them for me. It made a lot of light in the craft room. I didn't take a pix of the lights, cause they are not much to look at.

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day, make sure you wear your green.

St. Patrick's Day Card

If you are family you will be getting this card in the mail.

This card was also made with the Pinch Proof set. The colors are the same as below. The ribbon is from Michael's. The edge was done with the Scallop Edge punch and a white gel pen.
Thanks for looking.

St. Patrick's Day Goodies

Because I am a good Delaney and a good mom I can not have Morgan go to school next Tuesday (St. Patty's Day) without something for her class, I have made these cute bags for her class.

I used the stamp set Pinch Proof. The toppers are made with the Top Note die (for the Big Shot) and I matted the circles with Glorious Green that I punched with the Scallop Circle Punch. I did use glitter on the inside of the shamrock, because I love glitter. I sponged the green around the sides of the topper.

The bags are filled with green M & M's (which are hard to find when you need them). After a multi-store search they were located at the Dollar Tree in Arcadia (don't go there because I have all of the stock from this store). I was told they had them everywhere for Valentine's Day (green is the new color of Love), but that does not help for St. Patrick's Day. While searching I did find the neatest thing at Wal-Mart. They have in the Easter section bags of candy that are color coordinated. They had bags of jelly beans, M and M's, Reese's Peanut Butter cups, Hershey's kisses, lollipops and lots of other things that were all the same colors. They had pink, purple, orange, blue and green (very expensive compared to the dollar tree). I want to make an Orange and Blue Easter basket for Jillian, but the stuff will melt in the mail. :(

Sympathy Cards

I hate to make sympathy cards. If you enjoy making them then you may be sick. That being said I thought that since I had to make on for the Doctor I work with that I would make a few that are similar and then I would have some on hand for when necessary and then I would not stress about making one when the time comes. I made 4 of these in different colors but the same basic layout.

BOth cards are made with the Refuge and Strength set. I used Whisper White as the base with layers of Basis Black and Pink Pirouette for the card on the Left and Elegant Eggplant for the card on the Right. I stamped the cross in Pink Pirouette or Elegant Eggplant(the cross and the background match) and the message in Black. The ribbon is a wide white that I have on hand.

The others have So Saffron and Perfect Plum as the background colors with the cross being the same as the back.

I have a hope that these will grow old in my craft room and not need to see postage.

Our Daily Bread Designs

This is a card for a friend with a family member in the hospital. I used a stamp from a wonderful Christian company Our Daily Bread. I do not sell for this company as they do not have a home sales business only web sales, but sometimes I feel the need to add some scripture and religious things that SU does not sell.
I used the stamp set Lift our hands.
The paper is Brocade Blue, So Saffron and Whisper White. The ink is Ballet Blue and the ribbon is from the current Sale-A-Bration promotion.

Relay for Life Cards

These are the cards that I made for the Relay For Life event. My "job" was to make 8 cards inviting the cancer survivors to come by the team tent during the event.

Stamp Set: I used the retired Just Like You (the Ronald McDonald House set from last year)

This is a clear card made with acetate sheets. I used StazOn White on the front and put glitter in the center of the flowers. All 8 of them are essentially the same with different color combos. This is just a few of them.
Sorry for the sideways one, I don't know how to change this. I have worked on it for like 15 min and now I give up.
Thanks for looking.

Message from Mo

Hola!

No More Puppies

We are very happy to report that we have gotten all of Maggie and Bandit's puppies off to new homes. We even managed to sell some of them :) We had an addition to our family on New Year's Eve with Maggie having 7 puppies. Grandma Lane is enjoying Lady Bug very much. We ahve Smokie and are keeping Bandit. Two ladies from my work each have one. We gave one to a friend as a house warming present (he already said he wanted him). The other two we sold to the pet store. They will go to good homes I am sure. Here is a picture of Smokie and another of Bandit. Smokie is the little one.

Valentines Day Card

This is the card that I made for Don and Morgan for Valentine's Day. I gave them a joint card with some stuff I got from the bake sale at work.

I used the Stampin Up set: Love you much

Materials: Riding Hood Red paper, Close to Cocoa Paper, Pink Pirouette Paper, and Wisper White paper. The ink is Chocolate Chip. Love is colored with watercolor wonder pencils. The brad is one I had laying around.

Hope this will load right!

Another trip to the hospital

We had to take Morgan to the hospital today because they called from school to say that she "broke her ankle". Well I talked to her on the phone and she was crying, but not crazy, so I knew that it was not broke. I went to get her and it was pretty swollen, so off to the ER. Well the doctor said it was a "bad sprain" and stay off for a few days. Good news no break.

This is the second time in a week that we have been to the ER with Mo. We went last week when she was puking and couldn't stop. ER doc gave her IV fluids and all was well.

Pray that she heals quickly as she HATES being home and wants to go to school.
